Finding no
Channels or loosing channels after a service scan FAQ
Little History
lesson:
As a suggestion:
The DBox2 was
made for the German Market just like your Sky Box is suited to the UK Market.
There are 2 Versions out there, Cable and Sat. The Hardware is nearly the same,
they just use different Tuners. They are made by Nokia, Sagem
and Phillips.
When the Neutrino Projekt started the market for the
Sat Version was very large. Most of the Images are programmed to work with Sat.
It's just a question of a few files to make it work with Cable.
There are also 2 differnet Flash Chip Versions.
To get this Image working on a UK Cable Provider you need to find out which
Provider is suitable for you. I live in a NTL Area but I had to scan with the Telewest Bruteforce (Fec0) to get
my 115 Channels.
The file Scan.Conf located in \var\tuxbox\config must include one of the Providers
listed in the Frequencys within Cables.Xml
located in \share\tuxbox\.
You do not need a Bouquets.XML !
Services.XML is your Channel Listing of all
the TV Stations and Radio Stations you can receive. The Box will create your
own personal file after Scanning for Stations. You might only comlicate the whole procedure by using someone elses Service.XML or Bouquet.XML as they could be from a newer or older Image.
Bouquet.Xml is a arangement
of your most Favorite Stations, just like on Sky News,Sport, etc and can be Created by yourself using the
D-Box Key and the the Service Menu. Alternatively can
you also providing the Fact you have assigned your D-Box with a IP addres just tipe that into the
address bar in Internet Explorer and you can see the Channles,
EPG, Change them , Change Volume or re-arange the Channels.
If you use any Image, it is most crutial that
you check your Scan.Conf and your Cables.XML
as they might not have enough Frequencies in them to enable a Scan in your
area.
You can just copy my scan.conf and my cables.xml in the folders but you must not power down the box after that
!!
If you would, the just copied scan.conf would be
overwritten by Neutriono with it's own one !!! Unplug the Box and plug it back in and start a new
scan. You may have to try a a few different Providers
as I mentioned earlier !
I
Main factors for a U.K scan are :-
Correct symbol rate 6952 for TW and ex C&W
6887 for pure NTL
Scan between 200 - 800 mhz in steps of 8hz
<cable name="NTL 435 (FEC 3)" satfeed="true" flags="9">
<transponder frequency="435000000" symbol_rate="6887000" fec_inner="3"
modulation="3" /
So you would modify the cables.XML in this case and
add more lines with Transponder Frequency like i have
done in the attached file.
GOOD LUCK
